Wolverines’ Lewis charged with domestic assault

Michigan Wolverines former football player Jourdan Lewis was slapped with a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Court records stated the alleged incident happened yesterday but provided little more detail so it is unclear when his court appearance will be taking place.

Mlive.com interviewed Ann Arbor Detective Lt. Matthew Lige and said Lewis is accused of assaulting his 20-year-old girlfriend. Lewis was not arrested but was interviewed then released and later charged.

Lewis has not commented to the media about the alleged incident but did take to Twitter to Tweet:

That tweet could not be found at the time of this article posting so it appears Lewis deleted it.

Lewis is expected to be drafted in the middle rounds of next month’s NFL Draft and is staying near The Big House in Ann Arbor preparing for next month’s NFL and Michigan’s Pro Day. Pro day is happening on March 24 and gives prospects like Lewis the opportunity to meet and greet NFL GMs and perform workouts.

Lewis is sure to have his day be tainted with questions and concerns over this incident.

Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh made a statement early last season after Lewis sat out a game without an injury and it was speculated he may have possibly been suspended:

“Jourdan Lewis is one of the finest guys we have on the team. Football character and off-the-field character. There’s few, if any better, than Jourdan Lewis. Just wanted to clarify that for the record.”

We’re awaiting the results of this latest headline and how Harbaugh might respond.

49ers QB Olsen arrested on rape charges

Charlotte 49ers quarterback Kevin Olsen was arrested on rape charges Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Olsen charges included three counts of felony second-degree forcible rape and second-degree sex offense described as forcible fondling.

The 22-year-old Olsen cheesed for a mugshot and was booked into the Charlotte Mecklenburg Jail on Sunday.

Olsen has been a train wreck throughout his attempt at becoming a college football player. Although he started the first five games for the 49ers in 2016, he had a history of being suspended or kicked off other college teams prior to his arrival there.

One of those prior stops was in Miami where Olsen was expected to win the starting quarterback gig for the Hurricanes. That imploded when Olsen left the school after reportedly being suspended for failing a drug test and breaking team rules, then later being charged with DUI. Another stop was at FCS Towson but Olsen was also booted off that team.

Olsen is also the younger brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and the NFL Pro Bowl tight end has made no comment.

UNC Charlotte said they’ve been communicating with police and they later released a statement saying the incident occurred off campus and the allegations “appear to involve sexual assault within an existing relationship.”

Olsen may be a great candidate to write “How to Blow Great Opportunities in College for Dummies.

Jerramy Stevens busted for cannabis

Over the years, Jerramy Stevens mug shot photos have made their way onto the pages of newspapers and websites and after another incident, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers player was cheesing for another one.

Stevens, notorious for ending up in cuffs, was busted after police in a Tampa area pulled him over for playing loud music. After doing a search of the vehicle, they found 38 grams of cannabis tucked away inside.

Stevens was cuffed, booked and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia which counts for two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge for all of you keeping score at home.

Although this is Stevens first time being featured in our Jocks Behind Bars, it is hardly the first time he ever cheesed for a mugshot. In fact his legal troubles date back to 1998 when he was busted for second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and 4th-degree assault. Toss in the sexual assault arrest, three reckless driving charges including a hit-and-run on an old folks home and one “extreme DUI” and you get the clear picture of the guy.

With that laundry lists of arrests, don’t expect to see him model for the cover boy for the NFL role model poster.

At the age of 30, this backup tight end has probably seen his last days in a Bucs jersey and more than likely his last days in the NFL. With NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell cracking down on tweets and touchdown celebrations, one can only imagine what kind of discipline Stevens would get if he even is lucky enough to be accepted back by the league.

Lesson here. . . try not to set off a reading on the Richter scale with your boom box if you’re cruising out in public with a bag of weed.

Glen Coffee caught packing some heat

What happens when you walk away from the NFL for God to concentrate on a ministry? If you’re ex-San Francisco 49ers player Glen Coffee you end up getting busted for carrying a concealed weapon. . . and FYI according to police it was cocked and ready.

While up in the panhandle of Florida early last month, Fort Walton Beach busted Coffee and officially charged him with possession of a concealed firearm. While searching the vehicle, police found the weapon sitting in the console of his 2008 Cadillac.

According to police, after getting yanked to the curb for speeding, Coffee couldn’t show proof of insurance or the registration for his Caddy so his ride was towed and impounded.

Take a look at the Glen Coffee mugshot that was taken in his temporary orange colored uniform before the ex-player was discharged.

If Coffee ends up being staying straight and gets out to start up a church, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of ministry a dude who carries a loaded, cocked weapon in a Cadillac may start.

Dwayne Jarrett of the Carolina Panthers arrested

Wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett of the Carolina Panthers became the newest member of Jocks Behind Bars when he was arrested for possible DWI around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to police in the Charlotte area where the arrest occurred, Jarrett was pulled over while cruising Interstate 77 when the car he was driving had no tag.

After allegedly doing a shitty job at the “are you shitfaced tonight” tests, Jarrett was taken to the slammer where he refused to to blow or do any other testing. The cops fired back by obtaining a search warrant that allowed them to draw a sample of his blood for testing.

By the time the ordeal was over, Jarrett was charged, booked and asked to pose for the mug shot shown here.

Jarrett went through a similar arrest and incident in 2008 but pleaded guilty to that charge after testing over the .08 legal limit.

Reports indicate that time he ran a red light while this time he is said to not have had tags on his vehicle. Dude, you make more money per week than most of us make in a year so WTF! Get proper tags and drive like it’s Driver’s Ed class when you’re coming home from partying in the middle of the night!

BTW, for anyone interested in his NFL stats. . . going into Week 5 in the NFL, Jarrett had just two catches for 40 yards.

Braylon Edwards arrested for DUI

Braylon Edwards was arrested for DUI while driving in New York early Tuesday so the first question here is, WTF are you doing driving in New York!?

Now that we got that out of the way, here are the details surrounding the New York Jets player’s arrest. According to reports, Edwards was pulled over in Manhattan and cut to the chase. . . he blew about double the legal limit with a .16.

This isn’t the first time Edwards has met up with the police.

The 27-year-old wide receiver was found guilty for past charges of driving 120 miles per hour then was later accused but not arrested for allegedly punching LeBron James’ friend back in October 2009. Just for honorable mention, he was also out slamming drinks with Donte Stallworth the evening Stallworth ran into and killed a pedestrian in South Florida.

Now if Edwards truly was out partying with Donte until the early morning hours before that tragic incident, you would think he would have learned a valuable lesson about the ill effects and risks of driving drunk. Apparently not.

Back to this recent bust, Edwards was cuffed and taken in for a mug shot and is now awaiting arraignment.

The Jets released the mandatory “we’re disappointed” as hell speech earlier today with General Manager Mike Tannenbaum making this statement:

“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment. We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures.”

Yeah we’re all disappointed and luckily another poor pedestrian dude who doesn’t drive wasn’t killed walking home (Google Stallworth). Seems like some of these guys will never learn.

Steve Babik convicted of child pornography

Gators announcer Steve Babik can now add convicted child pornographer to his resume.

A federal judge in Gainesville, Florida sentenced the 50-year-old Babik to 151 months behind bars and for those of you without a calculator available, that’s more than a dozen Christmas’, 12.58 years to be exact.

SLAM! That’s the sound of the iron door. . . CLINK . . . and that’s the sound of the key being thrown away. The sentence comes after this slink pleaded guilty back in April to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.

According to prosecutors, between June 2008 and November 2009 Babik was involved with offering child pornography files 326 times from his personal computer. The investigators are said to have found images of children engaging in sex acts with other children as well as with adults.

Once this deviant was discovered, he didn’t have a chance since the Gainesville P.D., the Alachua County Sheriff Office, the FBI and the Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force all converged on the case.

We’re happy to see him locked away but the sorry thing is, this slink is said to actually have two children of his own.

Before Babik went in front of the judge for his sentencing, a private organization that funds University of Florida athletics released a statement that included:

“We are deeply disturbed by the charges.”

Yeah no shit, so are we but what better place for a guy like Babik than to be behind bars with no key in sight for over a decade.

Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart busted in Tampa

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, former WWF wrestler was cuffed and cheesed for this mug shot on Sunday afternoon after allegedly raising hell at a gas station.

This most recent Jocks Behind Bars member known around the wrestling world as The Anvil was charged with a laundry list of offenses including two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, two counts of trafficking illegal drugs, one count of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and one count of third degree grand theft.

According to reports, Neidhart was causing a disturbance outside the A.J. Food Mart gas station and witnesses allegedly saw The Anvil dropping some pills so police were called.

After cops responded and performed a search they are said to have found Oxycontin and Methadone pills. The problem is gets worse. You see, these meds were actually prescribed to someone else and that someone else told police her house had been broken into and those were the pills that were stolen. Falling into place for you? That’s where the burglary charge comes in.

Local area reports close to the police quarters stated on Monday that Neidhart’s bond was set at $138,500. Wrestlers are said to be way underpaid so that’s a huge chunk of change to come up with for a guy like The Anvil.

BTW, Neidhart is the father of WWE Diva Natalya and had a successful wrestling career of his own. The Anvil is a two-time WWF Tag Team champion but also pursued an NFL career prior to wrestling, dressing for the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders playing in a few preseasons.

At the time this article was written, it had not been confirmed if The Anvil had been bailed out or if he’s still behind bars.
