Braylon Edwards was arrested for DUI while driving in New York early Tuesday so the first question here is, WTF are you doing driving in New York!?
Now that we got that out of the way, here are the details surrounding the New York Jets player’s arrest. According to reports, Edwards was pulled over in Manhattan and cut to the chase. . . he blew about double the legal limit with a .16.
This isn’t the first time Edwards has met up with the police.
The 27-year-old wide receiver was found guilty for past charges of driving 120 miles per hour then was later accused but not arrested for allegedly punching LeBron James’ friend back in October 2009. Just for honorable mention, he was also out slamming drinks with Donte Stallworth the evening Stallworth ran into and killed a pedestrian in South Florida.
Now if Edwards truly was out partying with Donte until the early morning hours before that tragic incident, you would think he would have learned a valuable lesson about the ill effects and risks of driving drunk. Apparently not.
Back to this recent bust, Edwards was cuffed and taken in for a mug shot and is now awaiting arraignment.
The Jets released the mandatory “we’re disappointed” as hell speech earlier today with General Manager Mike Tannenbaum making this statement:
“We are very disappointed in Braylon’s actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment. We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures.”
Yeah we’re all disappointed and luckily another poor pedestrian dude who doesn’t drive wasn’t killed walking home (Google Stallworth). Seems like some of these guys will never learn.
