Houston Astros‘ outfielder Jordan Schafer was arrested in Florida earlier this month and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
He was taken to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, where he posed for the mugshot shown here, and released after posing a $2,000 bond.
According to the reports, Schafer pulled up next to a police car at a stoplight, and was spotted smoking a marijuana cigarette. Also, because his windows were down, the officers were able to notice a strong marijuana smell emitting from his vehicle.
He was subsequently pulled over, and admitted to the officers that he had indeed been smoking weed and that he had more marijuana in his car. After a vehicle search, the officers found a small plastic container, with less than an ounce of marijuana in it, along with “three small marijuana peanut butter cups.”
If convicted, Schafer could face a maximum of five years in prison and as much as a $5,000 fine.
