Another New York jock became a member of Jocks Behind Bars recently after Mets pitcher Francisco Rodriguez was arrested after pulling a can of whoop-ass out on his girlfriend’s father.
This particular can a’ whoop-ass is said to include slugging the victim in the face several times and slamming his head against a wall. The incident led to K-Rod donning handcuffs like seen in this picture and cheesing for the mugshot that can be seen in our Mug Shot Gallery here.
Charges were filed for the altercation that is said to have taken place at Citi Field shortly after Wednesday night’s game and they include third-degree assault and second-degree harassment.
The Mets front office responded by suspending the 28-year-old closer for a few days following the attack and when you do the math associated with that two-gamer it equates to $125,683 according to ESPN, our “world leader in sports.”
“Ownership and the organization are very disappointed in Francisco’s inappropriate behavior and we take this matter very seriously,” said Mets exec Jeff Wilpon.
The New York D.A. handling the case described the incident and said other violent outbursts between K-Rod and his girlfriend are being investigated in South America and California. A Queen’s courtroom set a court date for K-Rod to appear on September 14.
“There seems to be a history of violence,” said the D.A.
