University of Nebraska setter Lauren Cook was arrested Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska, and charged with suspicion of leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving under suspension.
She was taken to the Lancaster County Jail, where she posed for the mugshot shown here, and released three hours later after an unidentified person posted her $500 bond.
According to the reports, Cook’s car struck a motorcyclist and his passenger that had pulled over to the side of the road. After immediately fleeing the scene, she then drove a half mile with a shredded tire before deciding to call the cops to report the accident.
When police arrived to her location, she admitted that she hit two motorcyclists and then “just panicked” and left the scene of the crash. Fortunately, though, no one was seriously injured. One motorcyclist suffered a broken leg, while the other person was treated at the scene for abrasions.
Lauren, whose father is the Nebraska women’s volleyball head coach, recently failed to complete a driver improvement class, causing her license to be suspended this month. And this also happens to be the sixth time she’s been ticketed in Nebraska for speeding since 2007.
If convicted, she could face a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
